Remote Access to PubMed with VPN

Open browser to the Library’s home page:

http://www.lib.ucdavis.edu

Use File/New Window to produce 2 windows at the Library’s web page

Bring up PubMed in one window and

the VPN in the other

Here is HOW...

Left:

Navigate to PubMed by Libraries & Collections tab

--> click on Carlson Health Sciences

Click!

Left:

Click PubMed link on the left

Click!

Left:

You are ready to search PubMed, as usual

Right:

Click on the VPN button and log in

Click!

Right:

VPN should appear in the URL

Search PubMed

Locate the article you want and select the article title hyperlink

Click!

Left:

Place mouse cursor over UC-eLinks button, right click, and select Copy Shortcut or Copy Link Location*

* Precise language in drop down menu varies by browser

Right:

Place mouse cursor in the dialog area to the left of the VPN menu Browse button and use CTRL V to paste in the copied link.

Click on the VPN Browse button to arrive at article.

Find and select the Full Text (PDF)
